Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Indian Wells

More than oxygen and pressure.

At WellMax, you breathe 100% oxygen at up to 2.0 atmospheres, twice normal sea-level pressure, while you sit back in a spacious, power-reclining chair. Every treatment plan begins with an evaluation by a WellMax physician.

HBOT is a separate service at WellMax. A referral is not required. Pricing is set to be much less expensive than other clinics.

A Hyperbaric Chamber Designed for Comfort

Sit back. Settle in. Breathe.

Many hyperbaric chambers require you to lie flat inside a narrow tube for the entire session. We chose our chamber for the opposite experience.

In the WellMax chamber, you sit in a large, power-reclining chair, much like your favorite recliner at home. Adjust your position whenever you like, then read, listen, or simply rest. The spacious interior means you never feel boxed in, and our team is right outside throughout your session.

  • Power-reclining chair · Sit upright or lean back at the touch of a button
  • Room to move · Space to shift, stretch and get comfortable
  • A view out · A porthole window keeps you connected to the room
  • Supervised every minute · A trained WellMax team member monitors every session

How HBOT works

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) means breathing 100% oxygen inside a chamber pressurized above normal air pressure. It works in two ways: it delivers far more oxygen to your body, and repeated sessions appear to change how your cells respond.
Under pressure, your lungs take in much more oxygen than they can at normal air pressure. That extra oxygen dissolves directly into your plasma, the liquid part of your blood. From there it can reach areas where circulation or tissue function may be impaired.
Research suggests the benefit may go beyond extra oxygen. When oxygen levels rise during a session and then return to normal afterward, cells seem to read that change as a signal. Scientists call this the hyperoxic-hypoxic paradox.

That signal has been linked to activity in genes involved in:

  • Growing new blood vessels
  • Calming inflammation
  • Strengthening antioxidant defenses
  • Supporting mitochondria, the energy centers of your cells
  • Repairing tissue

In short, HBOT may affect not only how much oxygen reaches your tissues, but how your cells respond to it.

Not all hyperbaric chambers are the same. Many soft-sided “mild” chambers operate at about 1.3 ATA. The WellMax chamber is a medical-grade chamber that reaches up to 2.0 ATA, the pressure used in several of the key published studies on stroke recovery and healthy brain aging.

Why We Brought Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to WellMax

We don’t add a treatment until we’ve seen it, studied it and experienced it ourselves

Patient Story: Sid and Parkinson’s Disease

A change Sid felt, his wife saw, and his WellMax physicians witnessed firsthand.

Sid has been a WellMax patient for many years and lives with progressive Parkinson’s disease. Even with extensive medication and deep brain stimulation (DBS), his condition continued to affect his walking, balance and facial expression.

We offered physician-supervised HBOT alongside his established neurological care. Over the course of treatment, Sid’s walking and balance improved markedly. His face became less rigid, and his natural expressions returned.

Sid noticed the difference. His wife noticed it. We saw it in our clinic.

For Sid and his family, the change was dramatic and deeply meaningful.

This is one patient’s experience and does not predict how anyone else will respond. HBOT is investigational for Parkinson’s disease and does not replace neurological care.

What to Expect During HBOT Sessions

Before You Start

Your first step is a consultation with a WellMax physician. We review your health history, medications and goals.

During Each Session

You settle into the reclining chair, and the chamber slowly pressurizes. You’ll feel pressure in your ears, much like descending in an airplane, and we’ll show you easy ways to clear it. Once at treatment pressure, you breathe oxygen and relax.

After Your Session

Most people return to their normal day right away. A typical course is 20 to 40 sessions, and your physician tracks your progress along the way.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy FAQs

It depends on your goals and condition. Many neurological research protocols used 20 to 40 sessions. Your physician will recommend a plan after your evaluation.
No. Some people feel ear pressure as the chamber pressurizes, similar to flying. We’ll show you how to relieve it.
Most patients don’t. Instead of lying in a narrow tube, you sit in a spacious chamber in a reclining chair, with a window and a team member nearby.
Soft-sided “mild” chambers typically reach about 1.3 ATA. Our medical-grade chamber reaches up to 2.0 ATA, the pressure used in several key published studies.
Insurance typically covers HBOT only for specific recognized indications. Most neurological, cognitive and wellness uses are self-pay. We’ll explain costs clearly before you begin.
Yes. HBOT is meant to complement your existing care, not replace medication, rehabilitation or other treatment.
No. HBOT is a separate service at WellMax. A referral is not required.
