FAA Certifications

Dr. Cosgrove began performing FAA Flight certifications in 1999. He is a “Senior Medical Examiner” which means that he can certify commercial pilots with a First-Class license, as well as perform those for Third-Class pilots who fly smaller planes, i.e. general aviation.

Dr. Cosgrove’s Indian Wells office draws pilots from all three Coachella Valley airports, located in Thermal, Bermuda Dunes as well as Palm Springs.  Many pilots are visiting the Palm Springs desert from out of state, but since the FAA Medical certification is a federal one, there are no restrictions by state.

Dr. Cosgrove was board certified in Emergency Medicine and practiced at the Desert Regional Medical’s Trauma Center for over ten years, but he is also board certified in Internal Medicine, and has practiced Internal Medicine in his medical office in Indian Wells for many years.  Dr. Cosgrove is an expert in Aviation Medicine and received training at the FAA national headquarters facility in Oklahoma City.
