Dr. Cosgrove earned his Psychobiology degree from UCLA, then went on to receive his MD from Washington University in St. Louis. He continued his medical education at the Loma Linda University and then at University of Utah Medical Center specializing in Internal Medicine. He became Board Certified in both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine.
Dr. Cosgrove was an attending physician in the Emergency Medicine department for over ten years at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. He later served there as Director of Wellness for several years.
He later became certified by IFM (Institute for Functional Medicine) and wrote the chapter on hormones for their textbook Functional Medicine.
He is certified in the Bredesen Protocol, an approach to optimizing cognitive function.
He founded The WellMax Center for Preventive Medicine and serves as the Medical Director.
